Day 23 – Slow: How slow is slow? Well there are sloths, slugs, snails, buses, pouring a pint of Guinness – but the slowest thing I could find is pitch (tar, bitumen).

Apparently there are people at Queensland University, Australia, waiting for a drop of pitch to fall. It used to take about 8 years for each drop to separate from the funnel, but since the installation of air conditioning, things have slowed and the last one was still going after more than 13 years.

This experiment is so exciting that Trinity College Dublin and Aberystwyth University, Wales are also running similar experiments; watching … and waiting.
